I started with the little hut in the middle of Soho square as it is memorable and right smack in the middle of Soho square, the heart of Soho Pride. I then used balloons to introduce the first bit of color as i wanted the surrounding Soho parts to remain black and white as with any carnival the color and fun is brought by the carnival, decorations and people not the location.
My first character a trannie on stilts with heels on the bottom.
Bold trannie with rainbow dress.
More detail and carnival vibes.
Fat man and trannie.
Another random inappropriately dressed man and a man dropping his sunglasses and his bum showing.
Gay male couple with their child and back view of Queen trannie.
Tree top for Soho Square. Once again not colored.
Lettering I designed with a stencil I cut out and a dark blue ink splatter.
A combination of the lettering and the characters. First poster idea.
I then realised that I liked the first character a lot and tried this layout as a second attempt.
And then went for even more simple. This I chose as my final idea.
